Motivation Monday: Why We Press On

A passage I read this morning brought not only light, but refreshment to my heart …

“Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.” -Hosea 6:3

This is a challenge to a believer to KNOW God and PRESS ON to know Him.

God has already won the battle…He awaits us at the finish line. This is not a challenge to “work harder”, but to REST in His work. Remember, Jesus cried:

“It is finished.”  -John 19:30

He DOES call us to follow in His footsteps. To walk by FAITH, not by SIGHT, following the will of the Father.

“For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
-II Corinthians 4:18

As we walk by faith in God, living for the unseen by seeking Him daily…

“…he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

There are times when our faith is dry, weak, and thirsty, but HE WILL COME TO US. He will not only come to us, but when He comes, He will bring the rain to replenish our hearts.

A farmer knows his fields and the types of plants within those fields. He knows according to the seasons, what plants need and when. How much more does our Creator know His image bearers? As we SEEK Him, He will not only be with us, but will shower us with more of Him..His knowledge, His understanding, His protection…

“My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.” -Proverbs 2:3-1
