Templeton Silver
Owner: Nikki Wood
Products: Sterling silver pacifier clips

TDC: Tell us a little about how Templeton Silver got started, and the inspiration behind the idea.
TS:  I owned my own handmade beaded jewelry company for about ten years with my jewelry in boutiques all over the southeast. I had a childhood friend approach me about taking over their business. They made sterling and beaded pacifier clips that turn into a keepsake bracelet for mom after the baby outgrows the pacifier stage. She started the company when she was trying to find a cute pacifier clip that didn’t get dirty and "germy". They say that necessity is the mother of invention so they came up with the amazing concept of Templeton Silver’s unique clips as being:

1. A pacifier clips
2. That it also becomes a keepsake bracelet for mom after the baby outgrows the pacifier stage.

The two owners (who were sisters) both had children and couldn’t give the business the time and energy it needed. I thought the idea was absolutely genius. There is a ton of competition with making jewelry and this opportunity came to me at the perfect time. I’ve always loved children and have always wanted to do something in the children’s industry. I ended up taking over the company about 3 years ago and basically revamped and expanded everything. They had a few different styles of clips (that were amazing and adorable) but I took my jewelry background and came up with different collections of clips and named them after all my best friend’s kid’s names.  It was a perfect fit for me. So, in 2013 I made Templeton Silver my own and it’s grown in leaps and bounds since!

TDC: I bet that was a huge undertaking!  What has been your favorite part about running the company for the past three years?
TS:  I absolutely love the fact that each day I learn something new and with each new day comes new opportunities. Every day I wake up and am excited about all the things that lie ahead and are waiting for me and my company. Whether it’s finding an amazing new boutique to be in, an awesome new mom who loves our products, or finding amazing people and shops on Instagram like Textured Design Co to collaborate with.  It’s really fun!

TDC: Templeton Silver is known for its sterling silver pacifier clips, and customers can choose from a number of beautiful beaded chains as well. What do you think sets your products apart from others out there?
TS:  Such a great question!  There are so many amazing and adorable pacifier clips out there. Templeton Silver pacifier clips are unique in that not only are they pacifier clips, but they turn into a keepsake bracelet for mom after the baby outgrows the pacifier stage (*patent pending) and they have 85% less bacteria than cloth or plastic pacifier clips bc silver is naturally antimicrobial. We try and have a different styles and color options so there is a perfect fit for each mommy and baby. All our clips are cpsc and cpscia tested which means we have had our clips tested in a child safety testing laboratory. We care about making sure your baby is safe!

TDC: All your products are available online. Can they also be purchase in any retail stores?
TS:  Yes! We are in over 200 high end baby boutiques

TDC: Is there anything you’d like to share with us about the future of Templeton Silver?
TS:  We are so excited about the future of Templeton Silver and what it holds.  We have a few ideas up our sleeve, so you’ll have to follow along in the new year and see what those are :)

TDC: All of Templeton Silver’s products are designed and handcrafted here in Charleston, SC.  What are some of your favorite things to do in Charleston? Any favorite spots in the Holy City?
TS:  I grew up in Charleston. I went to college at University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and came right back to Charleston after I graduated. I swear I have a love affair with my home town. Love going to the beach, anything on the water, anything outside really (because there are no bad views in our amazing city). I’ve always loved just being downtown.  There’s something magical about our Holy City!

TDC: And finally, our favorite question… is there a Charleston restaurant you’re really loving right now?
TS:  Fig never ever gets old, does it!?  and Xiao Bao Biscuit is always a must.
