Yummy Pastel Colors for Your Fall Wardrobe

Happy Fall Y’all!

For this month’s blog post, Emily and I decided to bring you four fall looks, using 16 pastel items, that are Texture Design Co. inspired. And before you second guess this…Yes, you CAN wear pastels in the fall!

To challenge the traditional idea of fall-wear Texture Design has five looks that are very fall, very southern, and very bright! As we transition into chillier days, we styled four looks that encourage light-layering, color, and some personality! The looks below each have their own context and story- go find yours!

Are You Fur-real?!

Look No. 1

photos from JCrew

Are You Fur-real? Oh you mean about wearing lavender in October? Um, yes I am! This J. Crew blush slash crushed orchid colored fur coat I paired with a lavender top and white denim. The coat is the statement piece in this look, so I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit neutral. The ruffly-detailed jumper paired with the jacket creates a smooth visual transition since the sweater’s color is from the same color family as the jacket, the two do not compete visually only compliment. The white denim is bold too, but that’s how we do things at Texture & Design! Your love affair with your white jeans doesn’t have to be a spring or summer fling, fall in love (pun intended) with them on chilly days too. To complete the look I paired it with sneakers, the lavender ones featured help to visually unify the outfit. The Are You Fur-real look is a lightly-layered, feminine, statement outfit that looks best while out and about in your town / downtown or grabbing brunch with girlfriends.

Crop The Attitude

Look No. 2

Pictures from Madewell

Crop The Attitude. Even if there is no ‘tude, I always appreciate a good pun. This look is brought to you by Madewell, the sister store to J. Crew. For this look my color inspo was peach and for this I pulled the crushed coral cropped wide-leg pants, a warmer toned cream colored mockneck sweater, paired with neutral vans. The pants are the statement, I mean here you have a statement style AND a statement color?! Um, love! The color of these cropped pants remind me of the sky during a Charleston Harbor sunset. The pants are paired with the mockneck sweater, and even though both upper and lower halves of this look are less fitted- I wanted to create something more dimensional. The relationship between the cut of the pants and the boxiness of the sweater together create a more relaxed, boyfriend-style, tomboy look. To finish the look, I paired the vintage rose colored cat-eye sunglasses. The coral hues on the top of the body and lower half of the body with a neutral middle brings balances the outfit. The Crop The Attitude encourages comfy without looking lazy or sporty. This look is best worn and seen in environments that bring out the best in you like reading at your favorite coffee shop in the company of a chai tea latte or art gallery-hopping on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Just This-Sway

Look No. 3

Pictures from Nordstrom

Just This Sway is brought to you by Nordstrom. The color that inspired this look was very evidently, light blue. The statement piece here might be the entire outfit head-to-toe; however, I liked the unified look of each item coming from the same color although each texture is a little different. The baby blue distressed-furry sweater I paired with a silk floral ruffled mini skirt, and a blue bootie. You heard me, a blue bootie! They are so cute, but even cuter with a statement sock scrunched at the ankle! Because of the lack of layering, this look might cater to a warmer day Autumn might bring, and if you live in Charleston- you know what I am talking about. The name of this look was inspired by the silk mini, and I love the relationship between the silk skirt and distressed-furry sweater they complement one another without competing for the attention of the viewer. The white beret adds a flirty feel, and finishes the look by unifying the blue ensemble with white accents in the flower print and the beret. If to be worn on a crisp fall day, a denim jacket would be paired nicely and give you an extra layer of warmth. The Just This Sway look is a girly, romantic take on comfy-casual. It’s best worn and seen while on a date at a museum, or out shopping on a treat-yourself-day.

Chick-flix and Chill

Look No. 4

Pictures from Joules

Chick-flix and Chill. Ya know, like Netflix and Chill... except better? Because you are in comfy cute pajamas in the company of yourself or best friend dancing along to Thriller while watching 13 Going on 30? I don’t know what your idea of a great Friday night is, but that certainly is mine! This look was inspired by pink, and brought to you by Joules. With cooler nights approaching or for some, they are already here, well that means snuggle season! What better way to kick off this time of the year, than in a pink floral PJ set, pink furry slippers, and to top it off (I am killing the puns right now), a pom pom knit hat. Not all sleepwear is fashion forward and flattering, but this look sure is! If you are really care free in how you leave the house, pair this look with a light-weight vest and your Sunday morning donut run will have heads turning - in jealousy of how cute, cozy, and comfy you look! This look is best worn and appreciated, after just slipping out of work clothes or while watching romantic comedies with your daughter, mother, roommate, or best friends.

Mint to Be

Look No. 5

Pictures from Nordstrom

It is no secret that Texture Design Co. is slightly obsessed with the color mint. So why not add it to the fall wardrobe! The crisp mint sweater is the perfect top to wear tucked in with this updated version of a classic skirt! Next, add some grey booties with a little heel! (Which is important if your on the short side, like us, and trying to pull off a skirt this length!) To spice it up for fall, pull in some yellow like this adorable clutch from Nordstrom. This color combo is “mint to be” and the perfect blend of cozy and breezy for fall in the South!

Hey girl, keep it up. Color looks good on you.
